Organizational Structure of the B.A.R.C

Elected officials from local governments (including two counties and three municipalities) that have signed the inter-local agreement comprise the B.A.R.C. Each county is allowed two representatives, each city one representative. The representatives include:

Technical Advisory Committee (CAC / TAC)
The purpose of the Technical Advisory Committee is to develop annual goals and identify projects of concentration for implementation. The Technical Advisory Committee to the Bay Area Resource Council consists of the following members:

Environmental Education Coordination Team (EECT)
EECT serves the Northwest Florida Counties of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington and Bay, and their political subdivisions. EECT is a group of concerned environmental professionals representing local governments, regulatory agencies, schools, businesses, and private citizens. Formed in 2000, the group's mission is to promote environmental education and avoid duplication of effort among agencies and local governments.
In addition, EECT provides useful information to individuals about the natural resources of Northwest Florida and its relationship with the economy, public health and quality of life. EECT promotes established environmental standards; provides a wide spectrum of useful information relating environmental issues that is readily accessible to the public in an effort to promote and enhance environmental awareness and understanding; and acts as a subcommittee of the Bay Area Resource Council (BARC) by reporting and acting on requests made by BARC.
Resource Ranger Program
The Resource Ranger Program is a series of educational environmental video geared towards middle school children. The program includes classroom curriculum and activities, field trips, and a series of 11 television shows broadcast on local cable channels including WUWF-TV Ch. 4, Cox Communications, Gulf Coast Network Ch. 27 Mediacom, Bay Access TV 10 Knology, Cape Cod Community Media Center, and FWB-TV. The curriculum encourages protection of our environment through responsible actions on the part of the next generation of citizens. Activities also include outreach efforts through public events and school programs, such as Bay Day and Seagrass Awareness Celebration, in honor of Seagrass Awareness Month.

Membership on the TAC/CAC committee is open to the public. The West Florida Regional Planning Council serves as staff to the B.A.R.C. and associated subcommittees.
